Dual fuel pump system for Dodge Challenger and Charger Hellcat
The Dodge Hellcat is one of the most modified US vehicles sold today.
Bench testing has shown that an upgrade to the OEM single pump fuel system is required if engine power is to exceed approximately 850 horsepower.
Until now, your options have been limited to fuel pump “boosters” and aftermarket dual pump setups that eliminate the stock fuel pump control module and expansion tank (“fuel basket”).
These options are suboptimal and potentially dangerous to the durability of your engine.
The Hellcat 6.2L supercharged engine features advanced engine management (PCM). It uses broadband lambda sensors to continuously monitor and adjust the fuel-to-air ratio, even at full throttle. One way this happens is by controlling the fuel pressure on the engine's fuel lines.
The PCM measures the actual rail pressure and adjusts the fuel pump speed to maintain the target pressure.
All current fuel pump boosters and dual and triple pump systems eliminate the PWM fuel pump control module and simply operate the pump(s) at a fixed voltage. This eliminates an important control element, which limits the tuner's ability to correctly tune to the new modifications. This leads to a deterioration in driving behavior and, in extreme cases, damage to the engine.
This fuel system integrates with the OEM fuel management system. It increases capacity but retains all PCM fuel control functions, allowing for proper engine calibration.
The plug-and-play wiring harness is easy to install and is no different than the stock wiring harness on your Hellcat. All you have to do is tap two wires (FCM and fuel pump relay signals), reconnect the level sensor signal wires, and connect everything else to the stock connectors.
Another problem with all other solutions currently available is the elimination of the OEM fuel pump expansion tank, often referred to as a “fuel pump basket”.
This can be thought of as a “tank within a tank”. The fuel pump is built into a “basket” that is completely submerged in the fuel tank. Its purpose is to maintain an even supply of fuel around the pump (for cooling) and the pump inlet to ensure the pump does not “run dry”.
These turbine pumps rely on a fuel “load” to prevent overspeeding and resulting damage to the pump. Your engine also doesn't like a short-term lack of fuel.
Our system includes the stock expansion tank and eliminates these problems.
A common myth that should be dispelled here is that the stock expansion tank (fuel basket) cannot keep up with the dual pumps. That's simply not true. The tank (basket) is filled with a jet pump driven by the electric pumps; it fills in direct proportion to the mass of fuel that is fed into the primary pipe system. Note that the Demon and Redeye have a factory dual pump system whose expansion tank has the exact same fuel capacity as the Hellcat's.
Typically, installation of this system can be completed in less than two hours. Everything you need is included, along with detailed instructions.
Features:
- 2 Ti Automotive F90000285 turbine pumps as standard.
- 2 Ti Automotive F90000295 available as an upgrade. (Please note that the Ti-295 does not have a backstop and may result in longer startup times.
- Fully E85 compatible.
- Integrates seamlessly into the standard fuel system and control unit.
- Installs in vehicle's OEM surge tank (fuel basket) to keep pumps cool and prevent over-speeding.
- Billet version made from 6061-T6.
- Plug and play wiring harness and PWM controller included.
- The Ti-285 system has been proven on the dyno to support over 1100 RWHP on E85, 1200+ on gasoline; the Ti-295 system delivered over 1250 RWHP on E85 with twin turbos.
