Overview of the individual components of the 2-part Swept-Groove Disc
G3500 cast alloy friction rings
The brake disc alloy offers better thermal conductivity and is more resistant to temperature loads. This is important for maximum performance and service life of the brake discs on your Dodge Challenger SRT or Hellcat, both on the road and on the race track.
EBC Brakes Racing's 2-piece brake discs have withstood hundreds of hours of the toughest tests on the race track. However, the discs are not just a perfect product for the race track. Features such as anodised hubs, stainless steel hardware combined with anodised hubcups, stainless steel mounting hardware and stainless steel "anti-rattle" spring clips ensure that EBC Racing brake discs are also the perfect choice for those who drive their vehicle on both the race track and public roads.
48 curved air ducts
All friction rings have 48 curved air ducts and are right- and left-handed to ensure that the air ducts in the brake disc always provide the maximum possible cooling effect. On many modern vehicles, the air ducts rotate in the wrong direction, resulting in a higher brake disc temperature, as well as an unbalanced temperature between the right and left brake discs.
In these cases, many OEM manufacturers unfortunately sacrifice important performance in favour of savings on tooling costs and moulds, and instead of producing a right and a left disc, only produce one type of disc for both sides. This is also the case with the Dodge Challenger SRT and Hellcat - the original Mopar brake discs have the same part number on the left and right.
Hubcaps made of aluminium according to aviation standard
The hubcups of the 2-piece EBC Brakes Racing brake discs are manufactured with absolute precision from aluminium blanks that meet the specifications of the aviation standard to ensure the greatest possible strength with the least possible weight. After manufacturing, all hubs receive a black anodised coating for high-quality appearance and corrosion resistance.
SD-Drive™ stainless steel fasteners
One of the smallest, yet most innovative components used in the production of our 2-piece full-floating brake discs is the stainless steel SD-Drive™ fastener. Most of our competitors use fasteners that are made from steel and then galvanised to reduce costs. Each SD-Drive™ fastener is manufactured from a single piece of stainless steel, so there will be no corrosion problems.
Stainless steel fasteners are not only a visual advantage, but also ensure that the friction ring does not seize up and is therefore virtually maintenance-free, is fully floating during its entire service life and can expand radially under thermal load.
People are often confronted with the statement that floating brake discs should only be used on the race track and not on public roads. However, our innovative SD-Drive™ stainless steel fasteners allow our 2-piece brake discs to be used on the road without increased maintenance, even in countries with adverse weather conditions and also where dirty roads are the norm.
In addition, a stainless steel spring clip is used with each fastener to prevent the discs from "rattling". This ensures that EBC Brakes Racing brake discs work absolutely quietly and can be used on public roads without the "rattling and chattering" that can occur with 2-piece discs.
SD-Drive™ fasteners operate on the floating principle, which means that any expansion and contraction of the friction rings that occurs during operation only happens in the friction ring itself and is not transferred to the hub cup. This makes it possible to continue using the fasteners together with the aluminium hub when the friction ring needs to be replaced.
