Overview of the individual components of the 2-part Swept-Groove Disc
Friction rings made from G3500 cast alloy
The brake disc alloy offers better thermal conductivity and is more resistant to temperature stress. This is important for maximum performance and service life of the brake discs of your Dodge Charger SRT / Hellcat, on the road as well as on the racetrack.
EBC Brakes Racing's 2-piece brake discs have withstood hundreds of hours of rigorous track testing. However, the discs are not just a perfect product for the racetrack. Features such as anodized hubs, stainless steel hardware in conjunction with anodized hub cups, stainless steel fasteners and stainless steel "anti-rattle" spring clips ensure that EBC Racing brake discs are also the perfect choice for those who drive their vehicle on the race track as well move on public roads.
48 curved air channels
All friction rings have 48 curved air channels and are tied right and left to ensure that the air channels in the brake disc always provide the maximum possible cooling effect. In many modern vehicles, the air ducts rotate in the wrong direction, resulting in higher brake disc temperatures, as well as an unbalanced temperature between the right and left brake discs.
Unfortunately, in these cases, many OEM manufacturers sacrifice important performance in favor of savings in tooling costs and molds, and instead of producing a right and a left disc type for both sides. This is also the case with the Dodge Charger SRT and Hellcat - the original Mopar brake discs have the same part number on the left and right.
Hub pots made of aluminum according to aviation standards
The hub cups of the 2-piece EBC Brakes Racing brake discs are manufactured with absolute precision from aluminum blanks that meet aviation standard specifications to ensure the greatest possible strength with the lowest possible weight. After production, all hubs receive a black anodized layer, which ensures a high-quality appearance and corrosion resistance.
SD-Drive™ stainless steel fasteners
One of the smallest, yet most innovative components used in the production of our 2-piece fully floating brake discs is the stainless steel SD-Drive™ connecting element. For cost reasons, the majority of competitors use fasteners that are made of steel and then galvanized. Each SD-Drive™ fastener is made from one piece of stainless steel, which means there will be no corrosion problems.
Stainless connecting elements are not only a visual advantage, but also ensure that the friction ring does not seize up and is therefore almost maintenance-free, is fully floating throughout its entire service life and can expand radially under thermal load.
You are often confronted with the statement that floating brake discs should only be used on the race track and not on public roads. However, our innovative SD-Drive™ connecting elements made of stainless steel enable our 2-piece brake discs to be used on the road without increased maintenance requirements even in countries with unfavorable weather conditions and where dirty roads are the norm.
In addition, a stainless steel spring clip is used for each connecting element, which prevents the discs from “rattling”. This ensures that EBC Brakes Racing brake discs work absolutely quietly and can be used on public roads without the “rattling and rattling” that can occur with 2-piece discs.
SD-Drive™ fasteners work on the floating principle, which means that any expansion and contraction of the friction rings that occurs during operation only occurs in the friction ring itself and is not transferred to the hub cup. This allows the connecting elements to continue to be used together with the aluminum hub when the friction ring needs to be replaced.
