All outer friction ring discs are made of high copper, high carbon G3500 disc alloy, which has high resistance to wear and cracking, even when used on the race track. The outer, cast iron ring “floats” on EBC's patented SD-Drive technology bobbins, allowing the friction ring to freely expand and contract up to 3mm under hard braking to manage the extreme heat generated by heavy braking.
The brake discs are precision machined from aerospace grade aluminum and then hard anodized to both look good and ensure excellent durability.
All bobbins are made from a single piece of stainless steel to prevent unsightly corrosion and ensure the outer ring will float freely even after years of exposure to the elements. EBC Racing's 2-piece floating discs provide a low-maintenance solution that is comfortable on both public roads and the race track. Each bobbin is also fitted with an anti-rattle spring clip, meaning these discs are completely silent in operation and do not suffer from the "disc rattle" common with many other "full racing" 2-piece disc systems.
Upgrading from a one-piece brake disc to a two-piece floating brake disc saves crucial ram of your vehicle's unsprung rotational weight. This leads to a noticeable improvement in cornering behavior, tire grip on the road, fuel efficiency and increases the horsepower on the wheel. In addition, if the cast iron friction ring wears out after a certain period of use, the outer ring can be replaced independently of the other disc components.
