Overview of the individual components of the 2-part Swept-Groove Disc
Friction rings made from G3500 cast alloy
The brake disc alloy offers improved thermal conductivity and higher temperature resistance. This is crucial for the optimum performance and durability of your Chrysler 300C brake discs both on the road and on the track. EBC Brakes Racing 2-piece brake discs have successfully passed numerous hours of intensive track testing. But these discs are not only perfect for racing. With features such as anodized hubs, stainless steel hardware combined with anodized hub pots, stainless steel mounting hardware and stainless steel anti-rattle spring clips, EBC Racing brake discs are also the ideal choice for those who drive their vehicle both on the racetrack and on public roads.
48 curved air ducts
All friction rings are equipped with 48 curved air ducts and are available in right and left-hand versions to ensure that the air ducts in the brake disc always achieve the maximum possible cooling effect. However, many modern vehicles have air ducts that rotate in the wrong direction, resulting in increased brake disk temperature and uneven temperature between the right and left brake disks. Unfortunately, in such cases, many OEM manufacturers sacrifice important performance in favor of cost savings on tooling and molds by producing only one type of disc for both sides instead of a right and a left variant. The same applies to the Chrysler 300C SRT - the original Mopar brake discs have the same part number for the left and right side.
Aluminum hubcaps according to aviation standard
The hub pots of the 2-piece EBC Brakes Racing brake discs are manufactured with absolute precision from aluminum blanks that meet the specifications of the aviation standard to ensure the greatest possible strength with the lowest possible weight. After production, all hubs are given a black anodized coating, which ensures a high-quality appearance and corrosion resistance.
SD-Drive™ stainless steel fasteners
One of the smallest but most innovative components used in the production of our 2-piece fully floating brake discs is the stainless steel SD-Drive™ fastener. For cost reasons, the majority of our competitors use fasteners that are made of steel and then galvanized. Each SD-Drive™ fastener is manufactured from a single piece of stainless steel, which means that no corrosion problems will occur.
Stainless steel fasteners are not only a visual advantage, but also ensure that the friction ring does not seize up and is therefore virtually maintenance-free, is fully floating throughout its entire service life and can expand radially under thermal load.
You are often confronted with the statement that floating brake discs should only be used on the racetrack and not on public roads. However, our innovative SD-Drive™ stainless steel connecting elements make it possible to use our 2-piece brake discs on the road without increased maintenance, even in countries with unfavorable weather conditions and where dirty roads are the norm.
In addition, a stainless steel spring clip is used for each connecting element, which prevents the discs from "rattling". This ensures that EBC Brakes Racing brake discs work absolutely quietly and can be used on public roads without the "rattling and clattering" that can occur with 2-piece discs.
SD-Drive™ fasteners work according to the floating principle, which means that any expansion and contraction of the friction rings that occurs during operation only happens in the friction ring itself and is not transferred to the hub cup. This makes it possible to continue using the connecting elements together with the aluminum hub if the friction ring needs to be replaced.
