Description

Hawk Performance HPS 5.0 High-performance brake pads HB508B.586 for Dodge Challenger 3.5, 3.6 and 5.7 (rear axle)

Hawk Performance HPS 5.0

Hawk Performance brake pads, equipped with the latest HPS 5.0 formula - developed for maximum road performance with optimized pedal feel and high braking power without affecting the ABS of your Dodge Magum.
HPS 5.0 is a ferro-carbon compound that offers advanced braking properties to enhance the driving experience. This compound combines the safety and quality of aerospace technology with motorsport braking technology. The result is shorter braking distances, improved performance under heavy braking conditions and road-ready characteristics.

Recommendation

The Hawk HPS 5.0 is a good choice if you want to increase your braking performance to the maximum possible level without having to put up with the negative side effects of noise and large amounts of brake dust that are often associated with higher-performance brake pads.
The HPS 5.0 offers higher braking torque and a higher operating temperature compared to the Hawk HPS compound. The HPS 5.0 compound can withstand light track use as long as you watch for signs of overheating and allow the brake pads sufficient cooling time when they reach their maximum temperature.
The Hawk HPS 5.0 compound is not a racing compound and will not withstand prolonged racing at high temperatures. The HPS 5.0 compound is cleaner than most OEM brake pads, but generates more brake dust than the Hawk Ceramic and Hawk HPS.

Hawk brake pad installation procedure

  • Install the brake pads correctly. Ensure that the pads are securely seated in the brake calliper.
  • Flush the system with fresh brake fluid.
  • Check all hydraulic parts for excessive wear and tear.
  • Check the brake disc for correct thickness, parallelism and lateral concentricity.
  • Check the brake disc for scoring or grooves with a depth of more than 0.3 mm.
  • If both apply, you must renew or replace the windshield.
  • If the disc does not need to be replaced, the dirt from the previous brake pads must be removed. Sand the discs with sandpaper at moderate pressure. Clean the disc surface with soap and water after sanding and finishing.
  • The discs should be free of oil, grease and brake fluid.
  • Check the brake callipers for freedom of movement. Lubricate them if necessary.

Hawk brake pad embedding - road mixtures

  • Brake 6-10 times from approx. 50-55 km/h to 10 km/h and apply moderate pressure. Do not come to a standstill.
  • Perform a further 2 to 3 harder braking maneuvers of approx. 65-70 km/h until the vehicle comes to a standstill.
  • DO NOT STAND ON THE BRAKES! (Do not leave your foot on the brake pedal after stopping).
  • Allow the brake system to cool down for 15 minutes or longer.
  • Your new Hawk pads are now ready for use.
