Hawk brake pad installation procedure

• Install the brake pads correctly. Ensure that the pads are securely seated in the brake calliper.
• Flush the system with fresh brake fluid.
• Check all hydraulic parts for excessive wear and tear.
• Check the brake disk for correct thickness, parallelism and lateral concentricity.
• Check the brake disk for scoring or grooves with a depth of more than 0.3 mm.
• If both apply, you must renew or replace the windshield.
• If the disk does not need to be replaced, the dirt from the previous brake pads must be removed. Sand the discs with sandpaper at moderate pressure. Clean the disc surface with soap and water after sanding and finishing.
• The disks should be free of oil, grease and brake fluid.
• Check the brake callipers for freedom of movement. Lubricate them if necessary.

Hawk brake pad embedding - road mixtures

• Brake 6-10 times from approx. 50-55 km/h to 10 km/h and apply moderate pressure. Do not come to a standstill.
• Perform a further 2 to 3 harder braking maneuvers of approx. 65-70 km/h until the vehicle comes to a standstill.
• DO NOT STAND ON THE BRAKES! (Do not leave your foot on the brake pedal after stopping).
• Allow the brake system to cool down for 15 minutes or longer.
• Your new Hawk rubbers are now ready for use.
