Open valve cover breather for Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep 5.7 Hemi, 6.1 SRT8 and 6.4 SRT, filter with chrome cover
The valve cover breather can simply be installed in place of the oil filler cap without any modifications to the vehicle. This enables effective venting of the valve cover and thus ensures optimum engine function.
Thanks to this solution, it is possible to replace the oil filler cap with the valve cap breather without having to make any additional modifications to the vehicle. This is a practical and efficient solution for optimising the use of the valve cover breather on models with 5.7 Hemi, 6.1 SRT8 and 6.4 SRT engines.
The underside of the breather is CNC machined from billet aluminium for precise fit, and the silicone O-ring supplied is specially designed to prevent oil leakage from the underside of the breather.
The filter base is micro-machined for surface protection and good looks and can easily be polished by hand to a mirror-like appearance.
The removable filter element is a high quality, reusable element from S & B Filters and is held securely in the filter base by a specially manufactured retaining groove at the top of the filter base.
The purpose of this valve cover breather is to prevent unwanted pressure build-up in the crankcase and to ensure maximum circulation of ambient air in the crankcase to reduce oil temperatures.
Installing this breather will help extend engine oil life and reduce the risk of engine seals failing due to excessive crankcase pressure.
This venting reduces the effectiveness of the vehicle's PCV system and is not emissions compliant.
The check valve provided allows the breather to release crankcase pressure as it builds up, but prevents ambient air from being drawn back into the engine through the breather under high vacuum conditions.
This valve is advantageous for vehicles that have a vent line for the valve cover, or for vehicles with a very sensitive (or aggressively slimmed down) PCM calibration.
